The browser is coded under the name Spartan, and it is not IE 12. This news is announced by Microsoft Student Partner Thomas Nigro on Twitter earlier this month.
Spartan engine, some says, is still Trident (not WebKit) and Microsoft’s Chakra Javascript. Supporting extension features, the browser will look a lot like Chrome and Firefox and other similar browsers. On December 29, according to Brad Sam, Microsoft uses two different Trident-based browsers.
If this issues are true, then the browser will be fast and light-weight and must be preinstalled in Microsoft Windows.

Spartan will be available in desktop, tablet and mobile phone that run Windows 10, according to some sources.
Spartan, however, is just the name of the code. It is not clear as to what name Microsoft will use for this new browser. This move can be refreshing as users rarely use IE and choose Chrome or Firefox or Opera instead.
This new browser is possibly shown by Microsoft on January 21 when it releases other features of Windows 10. An interesting question is this: Will Spartan enable to browser to run in Android and iOS too, not just merely in Windows operating system?
