AirAsia disappearing in sea after a crash, according to Indonesian official

AirAsia, a plane that was missing on Sunday morning, might crash in Indonesian coast, according to The Guardian. Many countries offer to help search the body of the plane.

The transport minister says he will review AirAsia operations after the plane disappeared in a flight from Surabaya to Singapore yesterday, losing contacts to the pilot. The signal disappeared over the Java Sea when he requested for route change.

Ignasius Jonan, the Indonesian transport minister, says he will make sure that the performance of every Indonesian plane should be better in the future. Owned 49% by Malaysia, AirAsia results in disaster for the Upin-Ipin country. Before AirAsia, we had Malaysia’s flight MH370 missing on March 8 in a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Another plane, MH17, a few months after that, was shot in Ukraine. 298 people died on board.

Indonesian air force spokesman Hadi Thahjanto says that he is working to find the missing plane by focusing on several areas in Indonesia, including Bangka Island.

Australia also joins to help search for the disappearing AirAsia, sending Darwin to do the mission. Britain, The US, India and South Korea are also involved in the duty.

Among the passengers, besides Indonesians, are British and South Koreans, with the French co-pilot.

Joko Muryo, the air transportation director, says the plane flew at 32,000ft and moved to 38,000ft to avoid clouds. While the pilot has not yet received permission, the air control lost contact with him only a few minutes afterwards.

Flightradar24.com shows a result that the plane was flying at around 34,000ft to 36,000ft, which is unsafe and unusual for a plane in a bad weather.

Since 2002, AirAsia has never crashed, including their affiliates in India, Thailand and the Philippines. On Monday, AisAsia group’s shares decrease by 12.0%.

The missing AirAsia pilot, an Indonesian, was an experienced person. The plane itself had maintenance in November and, according to Airbus, had accumulated 23,000 flight hours.
