Digital imaging in Photoshop is not that hard when you use good photo stocks

I have been a professional painter and graphic designer for at least a year now, and I see many of my friends' work in the form of digital imaging on blogs or Facebook. Some of them are wonderful and some suck. Adobe Photoshop, the most used image processing software, is my and everyone's choice to do the job. And the good thing is: You can make good work when you have a good photo stock.

And this becomes a trend among Indonesian Photoshopper to use photos of high resolution without permission from the Website of from the photographers. Doing a digital imaging thing with that strategy, of course, gives you an instant result. Some of them make the photos theirs and save the files on Dropbox or Google Drive.

Some designers rely too much on photo stocks. They don't realize that they can still creat great artwork from pictures taken with their cellphone. I myself use my phone Cross A7# to take many photos. Many of them end up in Photoshop, and few friends are aware of that. They thought the pictures come from a more professional camera.

Following the work of a more advance artists, many amateur designers think that good photos only come from SLR camera. Wrong. Instead, they can have amazing shots using mobile phone or pocket camera such as Cybershot. Some of my editing was done from images taken with Sony Ericsson. I don't want to rely on DSLR camera. While Canon ad on TV says, "Lens is the power of SLR camera," I said: Photoshop is the power of cellphone camera.

Copyrights

Most Indonesians don't understand copyrights. They just type something on Google and grab one of the files they think is good for use. Those pictures have copyrights. Artists cannot simply use them and forget about the ethics and legal issues that may threaten them. It is okay in Indonesia to steal stuff, but in other countries, Russia and United States for example, it is highly unrecommended. It can send you to jail.
