Stop the child's birthday!

The election winner wants it all: write off old debts, make new debt, financial overseer of the Troika throw out fresh money and stay in the euro zone - which will lead to bang, says Barbara Wesel.

The election winner in Athens can be the day after burn anything. Already on Tuesday he wants to present his new government, and then the way is clear for the announced negotiations with donors hated the troika. The stated goal of Alexis Tsipras is to simultaneously liberate Greece from its debt burden, shake off the austerity measures to chase the Financial out of the country and to demand fresh money again by Europeans. The latter is thereby called "solidarity". A program along the lines of that audacity wins.

The next few months in the euro zone are exciting

The talks between the New Athens and the countries of the Euro Group should be interesting. And probably after the old Mikado usually run: Who moves first has lost. In this respect, give European finance ministers in Brussels today allowed only once - "Let's wait for the government in Athens and the demands that will be put to us."

Both sides have now started to take stakes. The International Monetary Fund has already said loud and clear that something like the requested haircut is not an option. The European Central Bank agrees. And similar signals come from the European Commission, and finally from the largest bogeyman of the Greeks, the government in Berlin. Where the debt level of 175% of economic output is not Greece main problem currently. Because the country needs to make principal payments currently hardly. And the interest is in accordance with previous concessions with 2.4% by now lower than that of Germany. Next must pay Athens, however, to the IMF in Washington, and who has not yet rather let political threats of debtor countries impress.

Tsipras wants to have everything and give nothing

Alexis Tsipras has the Greeks promised during the election campaign much, especially the squaring of the circle: A generous social program including in particular the repeal austerity measures, shaking off the austerity measures, a haircut, full national independence and at the same time further funding from Europe and remain in the Euro. Even if you remove a good portion campaign rhetoric, there is still a tangle of unrealizable desires. The EU is still conjures for good exercise, you will work constructively with the new government. However, it must come when the finance ministers make the colleagues from Athens clear that the child's birthday is over pretty quickly to the point. The Greeks will not get paid at the same time a game console, a new bike and the last phone model!

And above all, no one should be fooled by the nice "son-next-door" image of Alexis Tsipras in Brussels. He is a political functionary who has never exercised a civilian job and has shown in his rise through the ranks of the Left parties boundless recklessness. He is the kind of politician who can be trusted as far as you can throw him. This is also suggested that he now draws a government with the support of the extreme right in consideration. That the representatives of the "party of the independent Greek" in Europe are likely to ensure, through their racist anti-refugee policy for another explosive, it seems there could not care less. Such a government can be not only because of fiscal policy to bomb.

Whether the new government can acquire confidence is uncertain

Many commentators currently assume that quite soon in Athens, the economic reason is again take the lead and come to compromise. But it should not be relied: As it stands, Alexis Tsipras could prove to be a poker player of particular hardness that is ready to take advantage of a leap of faith without hesitation. The euro countries should be prepared in secret that perhaps the time may come when it is wiser to the country to have the door, than to be always pushing to further rearguard actions.

But that's in the future: First, you have to see how Athens deal with the necessary extension of the last disbursement tranche which is again connected with a review of economic progress. The Greek government is waiting for seven billion euros from the common utility from the EU and IMF and for policy makers must show the flag. Then we will know what we have to prepare ourselves.
